The latest revision (v.122) to the Resident Directory including our newest residents is now available through the Main Menu link.
The annual meeting was held this evening, 1/4, with two items on the agenda: election for the filling of 3 vacant seats on the Board of Directors and a vote to not fully fund the reserves. The number of members to meet the quorum requirement is 161. There were 320 members represented in person or by proxy thereby exceeding the quorum requirement. The result of the voting is as follows:
Elected to 2 year terms on the Board of Directors are:
Bob Feinsilver - 251 votes
Sandy Goodman - 245 votes
Mel Morris - 281 votes
The remaining two candidates, Trudy Skolnick and Larry Pyser received lesser votes.
The vote on fully fund reserves was 314 YES to NOT fully fund the reserves vs. 7 NO. Reserves will therefore not be fully funded for 2012.
Immediately following the seating of the new Board members, a Board meeting was held to elect the Board officers. By unanimous consent, the following are the Board Officers:

Jazz has been called the purest expression of American democracy, a music built on individualism and compromise, independence and cooperation. Louis Armstrong said, “Jazz is music that’s never played the same way once.” Music critic, Ralph Ellison said, “Jazz is an art of individual assertion within and against the group...”
In most cities today, continuous jazz can be heard on a local FM radio station. Usually, the music will be easy listening or “smooth jazz,” as it is commonly referred to in urban settings. However, this music does not completely “define” jazz. Does this music represent a particular kind of jazz? Are there other “styles,” that are not “mellow” and “elevator “ sounding music? If so, where did the sounds come from, and who were the early players? How does this sound distinguish itself from the sounds of earlier years, or is there a distinction? Does everyone like this type of music? What do likes and dislikes have to do with the definition of the jazz art form?
In an attempt to answer these questions, we are forming the Villaggio Jazz Club. We will listen to and discuss the music and the great artists who contributed to jazz history and the American culture.
